Naval Systems

L3 MAPPS's Naval Systems business designs, manufactures and integrates complex, high-integrity systems for surface ships and submarines. We specialise in navigation, communication and automation solutions for our customers, who are predominantly prime contractors building next generation warships and submarines for the Royal Navy. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to working, which enables hardware and software development to be aligned with ship system design maturity, thus minimising technical change and protecting delivery dates.

Our state-of-the-art Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) provides solutions and real-time information and decision making tools to optimise manpower and available resources, enabling the efficient monitoring and control of ship and submarine systems on a day-to-day basis, whilst also providing the optimum response in any emergency situation. Our IPMS fully integrates the Power and Propulsion Management System (PPMS); Machinery Control and Surveillance (MCAS); Damage Surveillance and Control (DSAC), Condition Monitoring (CM); and the Platform Onboard Trainer (POBT) onto one solution.

We have designed and delivered Platform Management Systems for the Landing Platform Dock (LPD), Astute Class Submarine Boats 1-3 and most recently to the Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers. The QEC IPMS is the largest system of its kind ever delivered to the Royal Navy. We are also under contract to design the IPMS and the Controls and Instrumentation for the new Type 26 Global Combat Ship.
